What Is Advent?

Advent comes from the Latin adventus, which simply means “arrival.” Advent is the coming, the arrival, of the presence of God Himself.
For hundreds of years, followers of Jesus have set aside the four weeks before Christmas Day to celebrate the arrival of Jesus.  Advent is a time to slow down and embrace the true hope, peace, joy, and love of the gift of Jesus.

If the whole idea of celebrating Advent is new to you, you’re in good hands. We created several items that will guide you through weekly Advent Gatherings to do together with your family and friends!

Each year we prepare Advent Family Gift Bags that allow families to not only encounter the wonder of Christmas at church, but to be able to do so at home as well.  If you have never received one of our Advent Family Gift Bags you can pick one up at the church the first Sunday of Advent.
