Have you ever noticed how many people live by the weather “forecast”. How many times have all the batteries been sold, the bread shelves are empty and the sun in shining brightly. Why?

We have been trained to check the “weather app” before we even get dressed. That same mind set has crept into our spirituality. Far too many times we believe the forecast more than our faith.

Generally speaking a weather forecast triggers fear of what the future holds. Faith triggers hope! I often wonder what a person could have done if they had not listened to that internal forecaster that told them, “I can’t.”

Have you ever noticed that your mind will go searching for evidence to support your decision? Some people can always find a reason to complain; even when things are good. Listen if you really want to you can talk yourself into being tired or even depressed.

He who observes the wind  (waits for all the conditions to be favorable) will not sow, And he who regards the clouds will not reap. (Ecc. 11:4)

Have you ever noticed that you can make a decision to do something but your mind will find reasons NOT to do it now…???

It is easy to find reasons not to forgive people. It is easy to find reasons not to trust.

It is easy to find reasons not to have faith.

If we pay more attention to the weather than we do to The Word we will never sow or reap.

There were not favorable signs in our lives when the Lord directed Annie and I to begin pastoring in Hutchinson. It was not a good time in our lives. In fact it was a bad time for us to be making that move.

Generally speaking you cannot watch the “wind and the Word” at the same time. Just ask Peter.

He had stepped out of the boat and was walking on the water when he saw the wind and the waves. The minute he took his eyes off of Jesus (The Word) he began to sink.

Jesus had given Peter one word, just one. “Come.” In reality Peter was walking on that one word. One word from the Lord can empower you to walk in places that never seemed possible.

Do you have a word from the Lord?

Faith is not a feeling. Faith is all about FOCUS!

FAITH FOCUSES ON THE PROMISES OF GOD!

FOCUSED FAITH WILL OVERCOME THE FORECAST OF THE WORLD.

“The word is near you in your mouth and in your heart (that is the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:8-9)

What are you professing?

Faith in God’s Word or the weather report?

He who observes the wind  (waits for all the conditions to be favorable) will not sow, And he who regards the clouds will not reap. (Ecc. 11:4)

Don’t wait for the conditions to change before you change your confession. In fact I think it is your confession that might change the conditions.
